The other day, I was at a Business Expo and ran into another shooter. It happens all the time.
He looked down at my images and started complimenting my work. He said, “I could never do something like that. I don’t have the patience.”
I asked him what he shot. He said, “Weddings,” and showed me some of his samples.
His work was impeccable. Everything I would have wanted from my wedding photographer (and didn’t get).
I repeated his words back to him. “I could never do something like that. I don’t have the patience.”
We both smiled and shook each others’ hand.
Could I do a wedding? Sure! Do you want me to shoot your wedding? Heck no!
A wedding photographer is about capturing the memories of the “most important day of your life”. As a commercial photographer, my goal is about creating memories in your audience of something that they didn’t even know was important to them.
I like to say that the image above is the kind of thing I would be shooting if I tried to cover a wedding. In fact, it was created for a conference center in Ohio, to be used for their wedding marketing!
