Poster Design for Community Theater
5/10/22
Just a quick update: My love for Poster Design for Community Theater projects continues, but we are not totally out of the woods yet. The final weekend of the show was cancelled due to, you guessed it, Covid.
Sigh. Of course, my tickets for the show were for the last weekend.
And, we soldier on.

How I have missed creating photography for poster design for community theater, featuring the actors!
It has been a hot minute since we last had actors, director, producer and wardrobe all in one place!
Director Michael Colford and I have worked together on a number of theater projects over the years.
He always has a very clear idea of who the characters are and helps me (and them!) articulate them on set.
We decided to go minimal on the poster, making the characters black and white. This allowed us to create visual tension with the color logo type and to also reference the history of the characters.
For those that don’t know, some of the characters and situations refer to Anton Chekhov‘s plays and themes of old vs new generations. That seems particularly apropos in today’s world.
We're Back!
The Footlight Club, America’s oldest community theater, did a number of hybrid and Zoom plays, but our photography and poster design for the community theater was limited by the pandemic.
We did get back into it with Katie Swimm’s adaptation of A Doll’s House.
But, that one was a bit fraught with a couple of the actors having to reschedule due to Covid.
This photo shoot, however…
It felt SO good to have the gang back together again!
